Welcome to the Wellstone Media page! We are in a new building with a great new media center. We also have a lab in B121. I look forward to working with you to collaborate and support technology integration in your curriculum and to encourage our students to read for information and recreation. Media matters!
As we approach the end of the year please read and the following directive concerning your media responsibilities. Thanks!
"Information literacy–the ability to find and use information–is the keystone of lifelong learning"
From American Library Association's Information Power Building Partnerships for Learning
The mission of Wellstone media program is to prepare our students with the confidence and competence to pursue their aspirations; contribute to community; and to be lifelong learners. To support this mission and achieve these purposes, the work of the school library media program is to ensure that all students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. MY job as the library media specialist is to empower students to be critical thinkers, readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information by:
• collaborating with educators to design and teach engaging educational experiences that meet our students needs.
• instructing students and assisting educators in using and evaluating information and ideas through a broad range of tools, resources, and information technologies.
• supplying access to resources in multiple formats, including an up-to-date, high-quality, diverse collection to develop research skills and strengthen a love of reading.
• providing students and staff with instruction and resources that reflect current needs and anticipate changes in technology and education.
imparting leadership and support for all curricular areas by advocating for strong school library media programs to meet local, state and national standards.
