Hello! My name is Lis Young-Isebrand and I currently teach biology at Wellstone International High School. The 2014-2015 academic year will be my first full year at Wellstone. Last year I taught biology and chemistry at Wellstone starting in February. It is a privilege to teach at Wellstone for many reasons. I especially appreciate how the international students teach me something new about the world everyday. It is my hope that all of my students will gain a greater curiosity for science and the tools to investigate and use science to fulfill their life goals from the experiences in my classroom.
I graduated from Macalester College in 1989 with a major in biology. In 2005 I received my Master’s degree in Environmental Education from the University of Minnesota. I taught biology and chemistry at Washburn High School in Minneapolis from 1992-1999. For 10 years between 1999-2014 I worked at the Monarch Lab at the University of Minnesota coordinating programs that connected university scientists with K-12 teachers. From my work at the University of Minnesota's Monarch Lab I gained a passion for the process of science.
