History Day Gallery Walk

On Thursday, March 23, Ms. Dallman's History Day students displayed their boards and websites in the media center during a Gallery Walk. This year's projects were very impressive as all who saw them can attest to. They will compete in the History Day competition this upcoming Saturday. Best wishes to all and commendations on your efforts.

Somali Celebration

On Wednesday, March 15th, the Somali Student Association held an informative presentation in the auditorium followed by a feast in the cafeteria. Several alumni returned to present and describe the beginnings of the group. A slideshow created by Wellstone alumuni about the improving state of affairs in Somalia was featured as well.

On Thursday, February 9th, the Oromo Cultural Club hosted a celebration in Ms. Linda's room. Cultural practices were described, Oromo food was served and along with traditional dancing. Thank you for the informative and fun afternoon Oromo Cultural Club!

Project Success College Tours

On Friday, February 3rd, students from Wellstone spent the day exploring colleges across the state. Project Success took students to Augsburg, St. Cloud, St. Catherine's and MCAD. Students had the opportunity to explore the campus, find out what it is like to be a college student and living situations. Thank you Project Success! 


Students will achieve academic, personal, and professional success while becoming advocates for themselves and others.



Wellstone International High School (WIHS) provides an equitable education for English Learners (ELs) by meeting academic and social-emotional needs. WIHS builds on the assets and experiences of ELs’ multilingualism and multiculturalism. Students are expected to critically analyze and respond to local and global issues while enhancing awareness of self and others. Academic standards, research-based support systems and experiential learning come together to produce a rich academic setting. Advanced coursework includes college courses and opportunities for students to prepare for post-secondary options.  WIHS utilizes and promotes collaboration and community engagement through enhanced community partnerships.

Wellstone is a Celebration-Eligible School!

The purpose of the Celebration School recognition is to identify Minnesota Title I schools that have demonstrated both excellence on the MMR which measures school performance in the areas of student proficiency, student growth, closure of the achievement gap, and graduation rates as well as success with initiatives that have led to positive student outcomes.

This year Wellstone International High School has been designated a focus school under the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). The designation is based on student performance data that placed our school among the ten percent of schools making the largest contribution to the state’s achievement gap.
