Peace Week Celebration

Wellstone celebrated Peace Week December 17 - 21. There was an online peace picture scavenger hunt, a door decorating contest and a celebration in the cafeteria from 4 - 6 pm on Friday.  Find out more at this link.

Earn College Credit

Students in grade 10 and above who can read and write in another language can take a test to earn up to 4 semesters college credit. Click on the headline to see the place, dates and times these tests will be offered.

WIDA/ACCESS Test Information Nights

On January 9th and 10th the District will offer information nights on the WIDA Access assessment from 5:30 - 7:30. January 9th will be at Hmong International Academy and January 10th will be at Green Central School. Please click on the headline for further information.

Festival of Nations

On Friday afternoon, November 16th, Wellstone held a Festival Of Nations activity. Student presented 8- to 10-minute-long presentations on their countries and cultures to the rest of the school. Audience members moved from one culture’s presentation to the next so were be able to see all presentations. The Festival of Nations event closed with a sharing of cultural food in the cafeteria.

Please mark your calendars! Wellstone's 2019 graduation commencement ceremonies will take place on Saturday, June 8th from 1:30 - 3:00. They will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center Auditorium.

Mission

Wellstone International High School (WIHS) provides an equitable education for English Learners (ELs) by meeting academic and social-emotional needs. WIHS builds on the assets and experiences of ELs’ multilingualism and multiculturalism. Students are expected to critically analyze and respond to local and global issues while enhancing awareness of self and others. Academic standards, research-based support systems and experiential learning come together to produce a rich academic setting. Advanced coursework includes college courses and opportunities for students to prepare for post-secondary options.  WIHS utilizes and promotes collaboration and community engagement through enhanced community partnerships.
